It Was Planned As A PS2 Only Game
Now, you can play the game on consoles and iOS devices too. However, back in 2002, the developers originally had a plan to make the game only for PS2 console. Rockstar north took 9 months to develop the game eventually.
Many Resemblances with Hollywood Mafia FlicksThe game has a crime noir setting but that is actually inspired by a handful of cult Hollywood mafia movies. The most prominent ones are Scarface and Carlitos way. Vice City is the crime laden Miami of the 1980s. Malibu Club in the game is inspired by the Little Havana club. Tommy’ always aide, aka Ken Rosenberg is inspired by Shawn Penn, a character in Carlitos way. Some similarities with the movie Miami vice are there too.
As Tommy, you can ride so many vehicles in GTA Vice City. You can even steal army tanks and choppers in a few missions. However, it would be nice if the vehicle you drive is immune to explosion, bullet and fire. The White admiral vehicle is what you need but to obtain it, you have to use tricks. You have to fail a mission deliberately. In the mission titled ‘Guardians Angel’, you have to kill Ricard Diaz instead of protecting him. Then you can take his vehicle and use it.
Tommy Is The First GTA Protagonist With VoiceBefore Tommy Vercetti, no protagonist in GTA lineup could speak. Ray Liotta lent his voice and did an awesome job. Even in GTA 3, the protagonist did not have a voice.
Before unveiling final version of the game, Rockstar made some major changes to it. The in-game bus shelters were discarded. The character named Mr Maukhat was excluded. Fernando Diaz was renamed as Ricardo Diaz.
